1

Stop your curls from dropping ‘Divide hair into sections, then blast with hairspray before styling, setting the curls a little tighter than you’d wish them to look. And avoid the damp (obviously!).’ Use: L’oréal Tecni.art Fix Anti-frizz Hairspray, £11.29

three hair products every woman Should own

Philip Kingsley Elasticizer, £17 – essential for heavily damaged hair Fudge Salt Spray, £8.75 L’oréal Tecni.art Wild Stylers Beach Waves Spray, £14.99

Blondes can have glossy hair too ‘You just need to look after your locks and condition them properly with an intensive treatment once a week – and a serum is key.’ Try: John Frieda Sheer Blonde Hi-impact Deep Conditioner, £6.99

the easiest way to get volume ‘When hair is 80 per cent dry, tip your head upside down and finish drying. Spritz hairspray throughout, brush so it disperses evenly and put rollers in. Leave them in for as long as you can, but it’s really that upside-down trick that gives you great volume.’

tips for Budding hairstylists 1. ‘Be someone that people want to have around and always be happy to be there. If you want to clock off at 5pm on the dot, this isn’t the job for you.’ 2. ‘Work hard. I took risks in my career and I didn’t go with the norm. You have to take jumps that scare you to get what you want.’ 3. ‘Don’t panic if something goes wrong. Val Garland and I once lost our bags on a trip to St Barts, so I made a spray from seawater and Val used someone else’s mascara or something. We just went with it.’

6

love your hair ‘Every woman should embrace what she has and stop fighting with it. Make the most of what you’ve got.’

7

take my 7-day hair challenge ‘My biggest bugbear about hair is that people don’t do enough with it. It’s great that we’re now embracing colour, but I’d love to see people step it up with their styles; it is possible to do without going overboard. Especially with the internet, there’s now so much inspiration available, so there’s no excuse.’
