CHERYL: ‘IT’S HARD’
With her first weeks of motherhood now behind her, Cheryl’s getting to grips with her huge life overhaul…
It’s been only two weeks since Chiam’s little one made his grand entrance into the world. But according to friends of Cheryl and Liam Payne, it may as well be two years, as the pair are discovering that no matter how famous, rich or connected you might be, parenting is damn hard. And it’s reportedly Cheryl, 33, who’s been finding it most stressful as, like every new mother, she struggles with the pressure of being ‘the perfect mum’.
‘She’s absolutely exhausted,’ says our insider. ‘It’s really testing her – emotionally and physically.’
To add to that, the star’s been keen to make sure she’s as hands-on as possible. As reportedly suggested by several close family members, the couple have been doing everything – from nappy changes (which Liam mentioned on Twitter last week) to feeds – themselves instead of hiring a nanny. But, like any new mum, Cheryl worries.
‘She’s put herself under massive pressure to do everything herself,’ says another source. ‘She’s hardly letting anyone else help. She could easily have a team around her but she wants to do it and of course security is the biggest risk.’
As Look reported previously, the pair have been under siege from Directioners who’ve commented on the 10-year age gap between the couple and even directly threatened to ‘steal the baby’.
It’s led to Cheryl operating a ‘no risk’ policy when it comes to her son, keeping the circle around her family very tight. ‘She’s loving being a parent but naturally she’s fiercely protective and that means vetting every person,’ adds our source.
As for those wedding rumours, it is happening, but will be a low-key affair with only one or two family members attending. ‘She’s had two divorces; this time she wants something intimate and has hinted it will just be her, Liam and their son,’ our insider explains. With Liam set to jet back to the States soon to promote his new solo album, it’s just as well.
