We spoke to Mo Seetubtim, founder of The Happiness Planner (thehappinessplan, about how to reset our spending habits…

Spend In Proportion

‘Your spending should be in proportion to your income level. If you earned more, you could spend a bit more. But more often than not you’re spending more than you think. Add it up, now.’

Surround Yourself With Good People

‘Be careful to remind yourself of your priorities. Sometimes, people think having nice things will make them feel more complete, more accepted and more respected. Who you surround yourself with plays a huge role in this. Are all of your friends materialistic? If so, it’s difficult to avoid becoming this way, too.’

Focus On Your Goals

‘What do you want to achieve in the next five to 10 years? Do you want to buy a house? Knowing what you want out of life will help you adjust your spending habits.’
