Look (UK) - - HEY BUSY GIRL! -

‘You’ll enjoy your experiences more if they’re divorced from the pain of paying,’ says Claudia Hammond, author of Mind Over Money. We have to admit, having our holiday savings sorted before we jet off does sound appealing…

1 Click ’N’ Save Take advantage of cashback sites such as quidco.com and Tbseen.com. Quidco alone offers thousands of brands with average earnings of £280 per year (including all our faves: ASOS, New Look, Missguided). That’s basically another holiday – or a brand new holiday wardrobe…

2 Start A Standing Order Be strict and set up a standing order. Even if it’s just a fiver each week, transferring money into a second bank account will ensure you’re regularly saving – even if it’s a small amount. Tip: set up the standing order on the date you’re paid each month – that way, you’ll barely notice it’s gone.

3 Opt For Homemade If we had our way, we’d treat ourselves to a huge lunch, a bag of Haribo and a luxury coffee every day. But all those expensive sandwiches soon add up. Start prepping your lunches at home and you could save more than £100 per month.

4 Have A Clearout If you haven’t worn it in the last 12 months, get it on ebay. If you can’t face spending time taking heaps of photos, search for your local car boot sale. Bring your mates, pack a lunch (no spending allowed!) and make a day of it.

5 Holiday-friendly Birthday Presents If your birthday falls before your break, ask for holiday-friendly presents. That way, you’re already ticking off some pre-getaway purchases. We’re thinking new beach bag, an extra bikini or that totally essential Finery sundress…

You’ll have more fun in the sun without worrying about what you’ve spent

Start saving and it’ll soon add up to holiday gold
