‘I Won't Complain About My Body Again'
With baby Felstead due any day, we’re talking to Binky, 27, about her final weeks of pregnancy – and why she won’t let the haters win…
Hi Binky! How are you? I’m slowly shutting down. My body’s telling me to slow down. I’ve been doing everything non-stop, so now I’m just chilling out. I’m looking forward to the little one arriving. How was your babymoon with your boyfriend Josh [Patterson, 27]? it looked romantic… It was perfect. It was so nice to get away and spend some quality time together. What did you wear for holiday date nights? My white In The Style minidress [£34.99, left] – it’s easy to wear, especially with a bump. It’s really flattering and looks great when you’ve got a tan. You and JP must be getting excited… We are. I’m looking forward to my house being finished – it still looks like a building site. I’m staying at my friend’s at the moment but can’t wait to get everything sorted. I’m getting a new walk-in wardrobe, so that’s exciting. You seem to be really embracing your baby body – do you feel very confident right now? I’m getting used to the fact that my thighs now touch when I walk, which has never happened before. I’m enjoying not worrying about how I’m looking. It’s nice to relax and embrace it. It makes you appreciate your body more. When I get my body back, I’m going to stop complaining about it because I did that all the time before. What are you wearing less now? Have you ditched the heels? To be honest, I wear heels on the odd occasion. Your balance does
go when you’re pregnant, so you have to be careful not to fall over. Josh doesn’t like me in heels for that reason. In terms of your bump, are there any lotions or products you use? I’ve been using coconut oil and Bio-oil. A lot of mums have commented on your recent photo shoot (left), asking why you don’t have any stretchmarks. How do you feel about that? A lot of it is to do with genes, and I’m still quite young. But yeah, I think it helps massively keeping your body moisturised and well oiled. Is it hard having a lot of people comment on your body in that way? It is when they’ve never been pregnant and have no clue what they’re talking about. It’s actually laughable. I don’t have a stretchmark, but even if I did, it wouldn’t be the end of the world – it’s my body creating something magical. But when I don’t [have stretchmarks], people think it’s Photoshopped. It doesn’t matter if you have stretchmarks or not; at the end of the day, it’s all good. Is it nice that a lot of new mums have stepped in to defend you? Yeah, I had an influx of yummy-mummy followers and they’re really sweet, and I’ve got young mummies and everyone’s being lovely and helpful and reassuring and telling these trolls to bugger off when they need to be told! How many pics does it take you to get your perfect Insta selfie? It’s all about the lighting. Probably about 10 goes –10 attempts from different angles. I’m not doing selfies at the moment because I’m not feeling it. But a good mirror and good lighting and you’re away. What do you think about people having surgery to look good on social media? Would you ever go down that route? I think if you’re not happy with your body, you’re entitled to do what you want with it. No one should say anything. If you’re not happy with the way you look, if you can change it, then why not? Personally, I don’t think I’ll be having cosmetic surgery any time soon. Is JP complimentary – does he boost your confidence? Yeah, he’s really good. Whenever I’m having a bit of a wobble he’ll tell me I’m beautiful, which gives me a boost. You know, he’s really good at getting my confidence back up.
