Look LOVES social media. If it’s got a #fashtag then we’re all over it, like any dutiful social shopper should be. Each morning we scroll through the trends like they’re going out of fashion (which they will – social trends are notoriously fast and fickle) before posting an artsy ‘coffee, amirite!?’ pic for good measure. Yet the ridiculousness of it all slapped me smack in the face last week. Sure, I fanny around with flat lays and ask The Husband to take endless shots of my #ootds, but when faced with swarms of women, plus personal photographers, queuing to take the classic ‘itchy head doorstep pose’ on a blossom-lined street in London, it struck me: WTF ARE WE ALL DOING!? Which is why Look’s encouraging women to ‘Get Real’ this week, posting zero- BS images that cheerfully poke fun at ourselves. No, we will not stop using social media (see above love), but we do have a responsibility to younger generations to tell it like it is once in a while. Filter-free.

In this week’s #Getrealissue, Look’s Influencers offer a realistic take on what life’s really like behind the ’gram, from fab freebies to the more sinister social surgery and ‘Insta anxiety’ in all its guises. Want to have your say? Like us on Facebook/ LOOKMAG for LOOKLIVE debates (see p20) and spread the #Getrealissue message. How? 1. Post a picture. 2. Caption with the tries it took to get it. 3. Say why you want to get real – tagging @Look Magazine and #Getrealissue. In the meantime, enjoy the issue #Nofilters, naturally…
