angelina: ‘Brad, im so embarrassed’
They were determined to ‘work together’ but Brad’s intimate new interview has sparked another disagreement…
Currently in the depths of negotiating their hugely complicated divorce proceedings, exes of seven months Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are once again at loggerheads after Brad spoke out last week in a candid new interview.
It seemed the pair had finally set aside their differences after Brad declared during the interview that he and Ange, 41, were ‘working together to sort this out’.
But, according to a close friend speaking exclusively to Look, Ange – who was aware of the interview – had no idea of the depth of detail Brad would go into about their marriage, his alleged struggles with alcohol and the kids.
‘I can’t remember a day since I got out of college when I wasn’t boozing or had a spliff, or something,’ said Brad. ‘i hit the lottery and I still would waste my time on those hollow pursuits.’
Speaking about the divorce and its impact on the children, Brad added: ‘For me, this period has really been about looking at my weaknesses and failures, and owning my side of the street.’
According to our source, Ange isn’t happy. While she has also spoken out about the divorce in two television interviews earlier this year, she’s said to have made a conscious effort to hold back on the intimate details surrounding the family, something Ange reportedly believes Brad should have also done.
When asked about the divorce at the time, Ange said: ‘I don’t want to say very much… only that it was a very difficult time and we are a family and we will always be a family.’
‘This interview has caught Angelina totally off-guard,’ an insider tells Look. ‘She knew he was sitting down with GQ, but never thought for a second he’d be so candid and tell the world such intimate details of their family. She’s an incredibly private person.’
The interview comes after news emerged that Brad, 53, was planning to sell the family’s home in Los Feliz, California (despite the fact Ange is moving into a new house just minutes away).
During his recent interview, Brad referenced the family’s living situation and admitted to staying at a pal’s house following the split, as it was far too painful to remain in the family home.
‘It was too sad to be here at first, so I went and stayed on a friend’s floor, a little bungalow in Santa Monica,’ revealed Brad. ‘I crashed over here a little bit, my friend [director David] Fincher lives right here. He’s always going to have an open door for me, and I was doing a lot of stuff on the Westside, so I stayed at my friend’s house on the floor for a month and a half.’
As Brad and Angelina’s split turned nasty (Ange asked for primary custody of the children and said the reason was for ‘the health of her family’) neither were said to be on speaking terms. However, following Brad’s standing ovation at January’s Golden Globes, Angelina apparently felt some regret over the way she’d handled the split, and sources revealed to Look that, as of the last month, the exes were on speaking terms and finally ‘making ground’ with their divorce. ‘They were making progress,’ says our source. ‘She’s glad he’s facing his demons, but this has embarrassed her.’
