International make-up artist and Max Factor ambassador Caroline Barnes explains that brides are mixing things up for 2017. She says: ‘We’re seeing a lot of three-dimensional peachy-bronzed skin that catches the light as you move, paired with a soft brown matte eyeshadow, lots of lashes and a matte berry lip. It’s quite contemporary, but the contrast of texture works. Whether you’re going for this year’s trend or playing it safe, these are my ultimate beauty rules…’

DON’T use false lashes for length. Instead, use them to enhance thickness. Apply lots of individual lashes and work with the shape of your lashes. If you have them the whole way round your eyes, you can look a bit dolly-fied.

Look loves: nouveaulashes.com Nouveau Lashes offers both lash extensions and LVL, a treatment that lifts and tints your natural lash so it looks you’re wearing the best mascara ever.

DON’T rely on one coat of lippy. You want a lip colour that really lasts and applying one thick layer just isn’t going to cut it. You’re much better off applying a really pigmented lipstick, buffing it down to nothing to create a great base stain, then applying a moisturising sheer stain on top. Max Factor Lipfinity Long Last Lipstick in evermore Sublime, £8.99, is a very pretty petal pink that can be worn as a stain or full colour. The texture is smooth and long-lasting, so perfect for a bride.
