Mil­len­ni­als – and young women in par­tic­u­lar – have been coined ‘Gen­er­a­tion Anx­ious’, so likely are we to suf­fer with men­tal health prob­lems. In­deed, one in three of us don’t be­lieve in our­selves,* pe­riod.

While the di­a­logue sur­round­ing low con­fi­dence and the role of so­cial me­dia is gain­ing mo­men­tum – and rightly so – the stark sta­tis­tics re­main shock­ing.

Which is why Look wants to open up the con­ver­sa­tion with a se­ries of spe­cial is­sues that tackle ev­ery­thing from ev­ery­day low self-es­teem to the broader con­fi­dence dis­cus­sion. We’ll be kick­ing off a wider cam­paign too, ask­ing Look ex­perts, Influencers and YOU – the Look au­di­ence – to share ad­vice on how you’ve cracked you own per­sonal crises of con­fi­dence.

It’s our re­spon­si­bil­ity, to our­selves and to younger gen­er­a­tions, to speak out. Yes, we all suf­fer from self­doubt, no mat­ter how ‘to­gether’ we may seem – and that’s OK. But whether it’s low con­fi­dence in your ca­reer or poor body image you suf­fer from, if we’re truly go­ing to value our­selves, first we need to learn to talk about it.
