Jen’s ANGUISH OVER SPLIT

It was the separation that nobody saw coming – and Jen’s said to be devastated

Look (UK) - - NEWS STORY -

We have to admit, when news broke last week that Ben Stiller and his wife Christine Taylor had split after 17 years of marriage, we were pretty heartbroken. But not as heartbroken as BFF Jennifer Aniston, who’s reportedly taken the separation particularly badly.

According to a source speaking exclusively to Look, while Jen, 48, is ‘absolutely devastated’ that her friends have decided to part ways, it’s also instilled fresh new worries about her own marriage to 45-yearold Justin Theroux.

‘It’s a huge shock for Jen,’ reveals a close pal. ‘She’d always looked up to Ben and Christine as being a power couple – Ben was the one who actually introduced Justin and Jen when they worked on Tropic Thunder together in 2007 and the four have always remained very close.

‘It’s making her worry about her own relationship – if this can happen to Ben and Christine, it can happen to them too. Jen’s not one to overthink things, but this really shook her.’

Justin and Ben have worked together numerous times, while Jen’s been close to them both for over a decade – she met Christine on the set of Friends (she played Ross’s love interest Bonnie), and she’s been close pals with Ben since co-starring with the actor in Along Came Polly way back in 2004.

But while Jen’s said to be doing her best to console both Christine and Ben, we can see why their separation has been playing on her mind – after all, the celebrity divorce ‘ripple effect’ has been a thing in the past. This year alone, Jen’s Friends co-star David Schwimmer separated from his wife Zoe Buckman, and in March Scarlett Johansson filed for divorce from Romain Dauriac.

‘It’s a terrible scenario for Jen and Justin, who aren’t stuck for friends but don’t confide in a lot of other married types,’ says our source. ‘They’ve taken this very hard, for sure, and Jen’s just praying it doesn’t have a knock-on effect as far as she and Justin are concerned.’

We don’t reckon Jen has anything to worry about, though – after all, it was only a couple of months ago that Justin praised his wife in an interview. ‘Many people would have crumbled under some of the stresses that have been put on her,’ said Justin. ‘I’m very proud of her for that, for the way she handles herself.’ These two are definitely in it for the long haul…
