Caroline Flack: ‘I Needed A Relationship Detox’
We got the Love Island presenter to spill all on who she fancies. Just don’t mention Prince Harry…
Caroline Flack is basically giving us #holidaygoals from our sofa right now. She looks unbelievably flawless as she hosts this year’s Love Island (and new spin-off show Aftersun), and we admit we’re a tiny bit obsessed.
Sitting across from us in the show’s villa, her excitement at the return of the dating series is palpable. One of the things that makes Caroline, 37, the perfect presenter is her ability to get caught up in the romances – just like we do.
Much like the islanders, Flackers has had her fair share of ups and downs when it comes to dating, having previously been targeted over her reported romances with Harry Styles and Prince Harry (‘I’m not talking about him,’ she tells us firmly). But now she tells us exclusively that she is back on the scene following a ‘relationship detox’ – and she’s brought life lessons with her.
‘I’ve jumped from relationship to relationship since my twenties,’ she says. ‘I think it was really healthy to just take a break.’
Caroline feels like she needed time to put herself first. ‘It just sort of reset my brain really and I got in touch with other things,’ she admits. ‘I reconnected with friends I hadn’t seen for ages. It sounds really cheesy but it definitely worked.’
Now, the star’s doing what she loves on screen, has found a ‘happy balance’ with her new fitness regime and is training for her lead role in West End musical Crazy For You.
But did time away from relationships also give her a confidence boost? ‘I kind of know what I want more,’ she explains. ‘Maybe it’s confidence in knowing what I want, rather than confidence in myself.’
So what exactly is going on in her love life? ‘I’m dating! I’m not dating a particular person,’ Caroline says. But she’s not meeting guys on Tinder: ‘I don’t think you can feel a chemistry online, personally. It’s either there or it’s not. It’s that connection. That’s really hard to find. I don’t get that very often, so when it happens it’s like: “Yes!”’
