HOW TO… Up your DATING Game

Tired of Tinder? Bored of Bumble? Fear not. Here’s everything you need to know about the latest must-have dating apps to swipe your way through

Look (UK) - - NEWS -

It’s 10am and you have 10,000 Whatsapp messages. Your best mate has decided that she’s officially been ghosted, another friend is recounting last night’s horrific date (half an hour late; noisy eater) and yet another has just stumbled upon her sister’s boyfriend on Tinder. Think about it: how many of your friends are dating someone they met online or via an app?

Statistically, it should be around one in five. But it feels like a lot more. Like them or not, dating apps are here to stay. In fact, romance gurus have estimated that by 2031, half of all relationships will begin digitally. It sounds like a lot, no? But dating apps are quickly becoming the future for millennial relationships. We’re all for meeting the oldfashioned way, but a little help along the way isn’t a bad thing. Marriages, relationships, hook-ups or just an ego boost – there’s an app for everything and everyone, even the VIPS (or Vibees – read on to find out).

It seems we can’t get enough of them, either. In a recent US study, almost 14 per cent of participants who met on a dating app are now engaged or married. Some 15 per cent have been in a relationship for over a year. What’s more, we’re willing to shell out to find exactly what we’re looking for. Brits spend around £1,280 per year on average on date-related activities (that’s everything from splashing out on a new dress to upgrading to the paid-for function on Bumble).

At Look, we applaud the fact that there’s an increasingly wide selection of dating apps. But choosing one that’s right for you can prove daunting. There’s a new, more creative breed of apps – and we’ve tried and tested them. Settle in and prepare to download them all…
