International Yoga Day

Look (UK) - - FIT -

From breathing to bending, yoga is all about relaxation and we’ve definitely felt the benefits of a daily sun salutation. But ahead of International Yoga Day on 21 June, we’re working that little bit harder on our flow. The workout goddesses at Gymbox have launched the first Loaded Yoga class, which sees class members equipped with ankle and/or leg weights. Why? Let us explain.

While we wouldn’t expect to burn much fat from an ‘om’ here and a downward dog there, we’re actually way more likely to activate muscle fibres through weighted yoga than we are through plyometric (explosive, high intensity) movements. Yep, you’re a lot less likely to get injured, too, since the idea is to practice slow and controlled motions. Just 35 minutes in and we guarantee you’ll be dripping in sweat. The final 10? Savasana, the nap at the end of class. Let’s get it ‘om’.

Loaded Yoga, available with one month minimum membership. Visit Gym for more info.
