Transformers: The Last Knight

The high-action robotic sequel is worth a viewing for its eye-pleasing cast alone

What’s the story? As the fifth instalment of the robot-based action franchise, you’re either really up-to-date with what happened to Optimus Prime and the Autobots or you have absolutely no idea what we’re talking about. This flick sees Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg) pair up with an unlikely taskforce and Autobot Bumblebee to discover the secret behind why the giant transforming alien robots keep returning to Earth. Who’s in it? Mark’s back, obvs, but one of our girl crushes Laura Haddock (Luther, Guardians Of The Galaxy) also joins the crusade as Vivian Wembley, an Oxford English professor. Throw in Anthony Hopkins, Stanley Tucci, Brit actress Gemma Chan and Josh Duhamel and it’s an impressive (and exceedingly attractive) cast. Why should I care? Even if you weren’t a fan of the first four films, you might be surprised by this one, which explores the Transformers’ legacy in more depth. There’s still plenty of drama to be had, though, plus those insane, eye-popping action sequences. Not to mention Laura Haddock. Out 22 June Verdict: ★ ★ ★ ★
