HAIR TYPE: THIN

I wish I had the ability to grow gorgeous long locks, but sadly my hairdresser pretty much forces me to cut inches off as it breaks easily otherwise. But fine hair comes with a blessing – and that, guys, is manageability. So when summer comes knocking, air-dry styling is my every day. Here’s how I do it...

LOOPED Bun

I leave my hair down until it’s just damp, then comb some Redken No Blow Dry Airy Cream, £17.50, through before looping it into a bun at the nape of my neck. I wait an hour or two before taking the style out, then once dry I apply some serum – and I’m done.

CRIMPING PLAITS

I love the boho beach wave effect when I’m on holiday. Apply VO5 Beach Waves Styling Foam, £4.39, all over, then plait hair into six sections. Wait until it feels dry (superquick if you’re on hols), take out the braids and then smooth a serum over.

natural CURLS

After washing my hair, I ditch the towel and opt for a T-shirt instead (it’s softer and kinder on curls). After about 0 minutes, I apply a pea-sized amount of serum just to smooth the cuticle, then scrunch my hair upside down with Bumble & bumble Surf Infusion Spray, £22. The combination of oil and sea salt means you get that beachy look without the crunch. I then let nature take its course. Only once it’s dry do I find my parting, by flipping my hair around until it sits in its most natural position. Any unruly curls can then be tamed with a little more serum, and that’s it – I’m good to go. Trying to tame my hair is still a hit-and-miss job, but with this new routine I’m having far more good hair days than before.

HAIR TYPE: CURLY

I’ve spent over 10 years battling with (and bleaching) my au naturel curls, which now come complete with a lot of frizz. This style works for both holiday nights and muggy city days, so I’m embracing air-dry hair. Plus it means an extra hour in bed!
