London-born but La-raised, Harley Viera-newton is as cool as she is ladylike. An It girl in her own right, you’ll usually find her gracing Fashion Week FROWS with close pals Atlanta De Cadenet Taylor and Poppy Delevingne, or spinning decks at the hottest industry parties. She’s even been signed as an ambassador for Dior, and created fashion line HVN, which counts Selena Gomez and Emily Ratajkowski among its loyal legion of fans. She’s got a lot on her plate, so we’re amazed she’s also found time to team up with footwear brand Butterfly Twists to launch her very own shoe capsule. We caught up with the 30 year old to chat celeb crushes and style tips, and were left subsequently thinking that we could all do with being a little more Harley...

Harley, huge congratulations on your new shoe collection! What’s your favourite style? Thank you! I’ve always worn espadrilles, so I’m instantly drawn to the gingham ribbon-ties. How would you style them? Definitely with indigo denim or a little sundress. Butterfly Twist is known for its foldable shoes – do you prefer flats to heels? I love both, but pumps are so comfortable. People always ask me how I DJ in heels but, what they don’t know is, I always have a pair of flat shoes in my bag to change into when I finish my set. How many pairs of shoes do you own? I’m kind of a loyal shoe-wearer rather than a collector. I’ve got quite a few, but I tend to wear the same styles on repeat. What’s the best piece of style advice you’ve ever been given? From a young age, my mum always encouraged me to have fun with fashion and to not take it too seriously. When you truly do this, you can unlock your own personal style and wear what makes you feel your best. Dior is one thing, but are there any high street brands that you love? I’m a die-hard Topshop girl. I grew up in London and I remember my first trip to Toppers. I used to get so excited for our monthly visits.

You’re a designer as well as a style icon – what’s it like when stars wear pieces you’ve created? It’s crazy! The excitement never goes away. I feel very lucky to have had so many amazing ladies wearing my designs. The first celebrity to wear one was during the week HVN launched, and it was Margot Robbie! It was the first time I saw one of my dresses on anyone, let alone a movie star. Then Selena Gomez wore one to Coachella and everything blew up. Yep, that was pretty crazy, too. Who would you love to see wearing your designs? Rihanna, for sure. She’s my number one, so that would be the dream. Hopefully she reads this! Whose Insta Stories do you watch? Cardi B, for sure. She’s a legend and everything she puts up is hysterical. Red lips are your beauty signature – what do you use to create the look? Nars Lip Pencil in Red Square and MAC’S Ruby Woo Lipstick are my fail-safes. I always feel confident with a red lip. It’s the end of the night – which song do you finish your set with? Heartbreaker by Mariah Carey. It’s on most of my playlists.
