Look (UK) - - PROMOTION -

Time for a girls’ night out with your mum or a bunch of friends? You’re in luck. Melissa Mccarthy’s brand new film Life of the Party is out on Thursday 10 May. What’s the story?

Melissa Mccarthy (hilarious!) stars as Deanna, 40-something housewife recently dumped by her husband for a younger model (Julie Bowen). Reeling from the shock, she decides it’s time to make a few changes. No more regrets… she’s going back to college to get a degree. Yay! Except for one small detail – she ends up in the same class as her daughter, who’s not quite so sold on the idea.

Deanna – now Dee Rock – plunges head-first into campus life, embracing her new-found freedom by making out with college boys, dressing like her daughter and generally hanging out at frat parties. Cue plenty of Lol-worthy moments. Raucous comedy aside, this is a story about second chances in life and it’s a touching look at the mother/daughter relationship. Life of the Party is the ultimate feel-good film to take your mum or bestie to, anyone, in fact, who needs a good laugh – you’ll thank us for it. Honest.

Who’s in it?

Mccarthy is joined by Bridesmaids co-star, Maya Rudolph, as neurotic best friend, Christine. Molly Gordon is daughter Maddie, and Matt Walsh (Veep, Ted) plays her selfish, soon-tobe ex-husband. Mccarthy co-wrote the screenplay with real-life husband and director Ben Falcone.

Why should i care?

Er, because it’s Melissa Mccarthy who is too funny. And, if you were a fan of comedy hit Bridesmaids, you’ll love it! In cinemas Thursday 10 May!
