Car abandoned after police chase

A CAR was found abandoned in Shepshed on Tuesday night last week, just 10 minutes after being involved in a police chase in the town.

Leicestershire Police officers were initially alerted to someone driving erratically on the A512 Ashby Road in Shepshed just before 7.30pm.

According to a spokesperson for the force, a pursuit was initially authorised but this was “called off very quickly because the manner of driving was not deemed safe”.

The spokesperson added that it was “too dangerous for officers to pursue” the car.

The car involved in the chase was then found abandoned around 10 minutes later in Palace Close in Shepshed.

Enquiries are continuing to trace the occupant of the vehicle, a spokesperson for Leicestershire Police told the Echo.
