-

A VAN in Rothley was the subject of a suspected arson attack in the early hours of Friday, April 21.

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service received multiple calls just before 12.30am alerting them to the incident in Babington Road in Rothley.

One fire engine from the service’s Birstall Fire Station was mobilised to the scene.

Once in attendance, the crew confirmed that one van was involved in the fire.

Two breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet were used to tackle the blaze.

A ‘stop’ message was sent back to the Control Room just before 1am to confirm that the fire had been extinguished and that the equipment was being withdrawn.

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service said the cause of the fire is believed to be deliberate ignition and 85 per cent fire damage was caused to the van.
