Albert Moore retires

A BELTON councillor who was known for cycling to every council meeting on his bike had decided to retire after 61 years.

Mr Albert Moore, was guest of honour at a reception at Castle Donington Rural Council Offices and had represented Belton on the Rural Council for 31 years.

Prior to this he had served the same parish as a member of the old Loughborough Rural Council for 29 years.

Mr Moore had also been chairman of the council three times in 1942, 1951 and 1958 and was well known by residents as he rode to every council and committee meeting on his bike - in any weather.
