Prize for Jane Gilks

A YOUNG hairdresser from Barrow-upon-Soar won her first international award at a ceremony in London.

Miss Jane Gilks - was at the time ranked 7th in the British World Cup League and Miss Gilks would later go on to compete for the title of world champion hairstylist in Tokyo in 1968.
