Event for ‘Tinder’ for mums’ app
A LOUGHBOROUGH woman is hoping to help others tackle maternal loneliness by getting them to download a new app that is like ‘Tinder for mums’.
Donna Richardson, 36, is on a mission to get as many mums as possible, who feel isolated on maternity leave, connecting with other mums and forming friendships through the Mush app.
Mush (Mums Social Hub) provides a tool to help mums, with children the same age, connect, share, access social activities, read informative articles and more.
Donna is hosting a free ‘Mush Up’ event at Rosebery St Peter’s Community Centre, Storer Road, Loughborough, on Friday, September 22, to introduce the app and kickstart mummy socialising.
Donna said: “I believe friendships are a vital part of our well-being.
“I have been lucky enough to meet mum friends through my NCT group who will be friends for life, but not every new mum is so lucky.
“Being a mum, or a dad, is the hardest, yet most rewarding job in the world, but you only get by with a little help from your friends.
“No woman is an island and she really needs her mum mates, just to call or Whatsapp to vent and get out every day and plan things to look forward to.
“I can honestly say I have only been able to get by with the help of my mum friends, especially since my own mum is no longer with us.
“That is why I am building a community of ‘mushers’ here in Loughborough.
“So, if you are a mum or mum-to-be and want to meet other mums with kids the same age or similar experiences, come down and get involved in the Mush event.
“There will be prizes and fun and games including dance, toddler sense and baby sensory and craft activities, baby massage, essential oils, messy play and much more.”
