Com­mu­nity group to get live Face­book tips

COM­MU­NITY groups in Charn­wood can find out how to ap­ply for lo­cal fund­ing by tun­ing into a live Face­book chat.

The dis­cus­sion, or­gan­ised by Charn­wood Bor­ough Coun­cil in part­ner­ship with the Le­ices­ter­shire and Rut­land Com­mu­nity Foun­da­tion, will talk about fund­ing on of­fer for lo­cal groups and of­fer ad­vice about how to ap­ply.

The talk will be broad­cast live on the Charn­wood Com­mu­nity He­roes Face­book page be­tween noon-1pm on Wed­nes­day, Oc­to­ber 4.

Chris Traill, strate­gic di­rec­tor for neigh­bour­hoods and com­mu­nity well­be­ing, said: “This event is a great chance for groups to find out more about lo­cal fund­ing op­por­tu­ni­ties.

“Of­ten groups may not know what fund­ing is avail­able to them, so this is a chance to speak to the LR Com­mu­nity Foun­da­tion di­rectly and get ad­vice on how to ap­ply.

“We hope the live dis­cus­sion will also give peo­ple the chance to join in and ask ques­tions too.

“This is our sec­ond live Face­book chat, fol­low­ing the success of our first broad­cast, which has had over 2,400 views so far.”

Tina Robinson, grants of­fi­cer at Le­ices­ter­shire and Rut­land Com­mu­nity Foun­da­tion, who is tak­ing part in the live chat said: “The Com­mu­nity Foun­da­tion is de­lighted to take part in this in­no­va­tive ap­proach to rais­ing aware­ness of fund­ing op­por­tu­ni­ties for vol­un­tary and com­mu­nity groups through our fund­ing pro­grammes and look for­ward to help­ing ad­vise groups on how to ap­ply.”

The event is part of a monthly ‘fund­ing fea­ture’ or­gan­ised by the coun­cil’s com­mu­ni­ties and part­ner­ships team. Each month in­for­ma­tion and ad­vice is posted on the team’s Face­book page, to en­cour­age com­mu­nity groups to make the most of fund­ing avail­able to them.

To join the Face­book Live chat, peo­ple can visit the Charn­wood Com­mu­nity He­roes Face­book page on Wed­nes­day, Oc­to­ber 4. The talk will be broad­cast live on the Face­book page from 12pm.

A record­ing of the in­ter­view will be avail­able on the page for peo­ple who can’t tune in live.
