Prestigious award for chef lecturer

Loughborough Echo - - SHEPSHED SCENE -

A LOUGHBOROUGH College chef lecturer has been presented with a prestigious award from the British Culinary Federation at a glittering ceremony.

Darren Creed received the Ken Fraser MBE Memorial Award in recognition of his work training, mentoring and encouraging young chefs to progress within the profession.

The college Hospitality lead, who was a medal winner at last year’s International Culinary Olympics, has been a teacher for more than two decades and has supported a host of students towards national and international competition success, to work alongside some of the industry’s leading chefs and in securing prestigious positions.

Darren said: “When my name was announced and I was called onto the stage I was in complete and utter shock.

“I love my job and everything I do is for the students but to be recognised by the trade with a nomination alone was fantastic but then to win... it really is such an honour.”
