PORTUGAL’S NEW CELEBRITY HAUNT
The Algarve coast of southern Portugal is famous as a hangout for celebrities, footballers and reality stars including Binky Felstead from Made in Chelsea, Ant & Dec, Holly Willoughby and Jose Mourinho.
And the places they all make a beeline for are the region’s two most famous villa and golf resorts; Quinta do Lago where footballer Steven Gerrard owns a villa, and Vilamoura, at which you’ll see Christiano Ronaldo and Teddy Sheringham hanging out with friends and family.
Both resorts owe a lot of their success to Andre Jordan, whose efforts to promote Portugal as a holiday destination, and his ability to attract the rich and famous to his resorts have proved extremely effective.
His latest project – despite being well into his eighties – is Lisbon Green Valley, a new development of town houses and apartments overlooking a verdant swathe of hillside a 15-minute drive from Portugal’s capital.
Andre’s son Gilberto, who is helping his father build the developments’ 16 apartments and 14 townhouses, says several high-profile names have already bought plots.
Lisbon Green Valley offers plots within which stars – and the rest of us – can build properties from scratch starting at $325,000 for the land. If you don’t want the extra expense of building your own home, completed apartments at Green Valley start at $325,000 for a one-bed on the bottom floor to €520,00 for a two-bedroom unit on the top floor. Townhouses kick off at €905,000 for a three-bed unit.
