Coun­cil in­vites artists to con­sider horse ar­ma­ture

CHARN­WOOD Bor­ough Coun­cil wants to com­mis­sion an artist/maker to cre­ate an ar­ma­ture of a horse which will be cov­ered by pop­pies cre­ated by chil­dren from across the bor­ough.

The ar­ma­ture will be por­ta­ble and will play a ma­jor role in the World War One cen­te­nary events in Lough­bor­ough on Sun­day, Novem­ber 11. The com­mis­sion is based on a lo­cal war horse called Song­ster.

The ar­ma­ture will be life size and the artist/maker is ex­pected to work with par­tic­i­pat­ing schools and chil­dren’s groups for the cre­ation of the pop­pies and their in­stal­la­tion.

The project fund­ing is a max­i­mum of £4,000 which should in­clude the cre­ation of the ar­ma­ture, its de­liv­ery, on­go­ing en­gage­ment with schools and lo­cal chil­dren’s groups, and the at­tach­ing of pop­pies.
