Car overturned on inner relief road near bingo hall
TRAFFIC was gridlocked in Loughborough town centre following an accident in which a car overturned on Monday, June 11.
William Middleditch, aged 14, was travelling through town when he saw the incident and took this photograph.
He said: “The A6 in Loughborough town centre was closed at 4pm today causing traffic chaos during school run time and the build-up to rush hour.
“Police were in attendance and had used cones to close the road at the intersection with the The Coneries and Baxter Gate.
“A car had crashed and overturned just next to the side wall of Beacon Bingo and the road had been sealed off. The car looked badly damaged.
“Police were directing the traffic and sending it via Sparrow Hill, but tailbacks were building up as traffic levels increased in the run up to 5pm.”
A spokesman for Leicestershire Police said: “We were called at 3.11pm to a report of a twovehicle collision off Baxter Gate, at the junction of Lemyngton Street.
“The road was closed near to Park Hill Training Centre. One woman was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre (in Nottingham), her injuries weren’t thought to be life changing or life threatening.”
The road reopened shortly after 5pm.
