Barrow shooting fears are allayed by police force

A WORRIED village resident feared a shooting had taken place in Barrow-up on Soar - but the reality is far less dramatic.

An Echo reader contacted us on Wednesday afternoon to report that he had seen about 14 armed police in the village running around and claimed footpaths between Barrow and Quorn had been blocked blocked off

But a spokeswoman for Leicestershire Police allayed the resident’s fears - and explained that it was in fact to do with a missing person’s case.

She said police officers were searching for a missing person, who has since been located.

And she added that if armed officers were at the scene, it was likely because they were the closest police officers to the scene at the time of the report.
