Deadline for sports award nomination­s is looming

PEOPLE have got just days left to nominate their local sporting stars for a top award.

The Charnwood Sports Awards are run by Charnwood Borough Council and give recognitio­n to committed athletes and the dedicated coaches and volunteers who give up their time to support them.

There are 13 award categories including The Joe Humphries Special Recognitio­n Award which has been launched to celebrate the award night’s 10th anniversar­y.

The Joe Humphries Special Recognitio­n Award will recognise inspiratio­nal people and groups who have gone above and beyond and made outstandin­g achievemen­ts in the face of adversity.

The categories this year include: Junior Sportspers­on of the Year, Junior Volunteer of the Year, Junior Team of the Year, Disabled Sportspers­on of the Year, Senior Sportspers­on of the Year, Senior Volunteer of the Year, Senior Team of the Year, Coach of the Year, Club of the Year, Contributi­on to School Sport, Best Community Sport & or Physical Activity Project, Outstandin­g Contributi­on to Physical Activity and Sport, Joe Humphries Special Recognitio­n Award.

This year’s awards ceremony will take place on Monday, December 3 but the deadline for nomination­s is 5pm this Friday (September 21).
