A part of the Duke of York still stands
THE Duke of York still stands.
I had planning permission to extend my kitchen and bathroom in Cedar Road, Loughborough, when I passed the Duke of York which was being demolished.
I asked the site foreman to sell me 700 bricks but he declined as they were being batched up on pallets of 1,000.
So I paid the bargain sum of £70, for 1,000 Tucker’s bricks and he followed me home in a dumper truck carrying my purchase.
They now stand firmly as part of that house only 300 yards from where they were created, Tucker’s pit and brick factory.
