Volunteers praised by North West Leicestershire District Council
MORE than 80 people were praised for their volunteering efforts at a special afternoon tea.
A host of volunteers joined North West Leicestershire District Council at its Celebration of Volunteers event, which was hosted and sponsored by Radisson Blu Hotel at East Midlands Airport.
The event was organised to recognise
the contribution that individuals and groups make to their communities by organising events, projects and initiatives and supporting others.
After being treated to a delicious afternoon tea provided by the Radisson Blu Hotel, the deputy leader of the council thanked volunteers for all their hard work and commitment within their local community.
Coun Alison Smith, deputy leader and portfolio holder for community services, said: “We are blessed to have so many dedicated volunteers doing incredible work across the district and it’s only right we show gratitude for all of the effort they give. We support them and they support us; it’s a two way street.
“This event was a small thank you for all the volunteer work done by these
special people. It was fantastic to see so many smiling faces getting the recognition and thanks they deserve.”
Deena Squires, director of sales at the Radisson Blu Hotel, East Midlands Airport, said: “We’re delighted to support this great event and help say a very sincere thank you to communities and individuals who do so much for North West Leicestershire.”
