Home closed in anti-social case
A SEVENTH home has been closed and its tenant removed in North West Leicestershire in relation to drugs and anti-social behaviour.
The closure order, at an address in Whitwick, was successfully applied for at Leicester Magistrates’ Court on Friday by Leicestershire Police and North West Leicestershire District Council as part of a joint operation.
It follows the closure of six addresses in and around Coalville last week in the first operation of its kind in Leicestershire due to the large number of properties involved.
Tenants were given the opportunity to oppose the orders at court which were sought following months of anti-social behaviour causing misery to nearby residents.
Inspector Richard Jackson, from North West Leicestershire Neighbourhood Policing Area, who oversaw the operation, said: “Once again we welcome the closure order and hope it brings an end to the misery and grief residents living close by were experiencing.
“This positive action has been taken in conjunction with the council and highlights our determination to deal with those who have such a negative impact on our communities.”
