-

THE Loughborough Constituency Labour Party has now donated a total £2,285 to the Charnwood Community Action Group food bank initiative to support local vulnerable people.

The money was donated by members of the group both in smaller and larger amounts.

Sarah Goode, membership officer, told the Echo: “When we started this initiative just a couple of weeks ago we were hoping to raise around £500, so we’re absolutely delighted to have raised well in excess of £2,000.

“Our members have been so generous and we really thank them for this.”

Coun Gill Bolton, Labour councillor for Loughborough Shelthorpe Ward, added: “We so much appreciate the donations made by our members to this great cause.

“We really hope that the money from our members will go some way towards continuing the great work that is being done by the Charnwood Community Action Group. I’d like to thank Sarah Goode for this initiative and for driving it through and raising such an amazing amount of money.”

The money will go towards funding food for the food parcels and also any other initiatives that are needed.
