Teens cash in with a fun day

TEENAGE vol­un­teers or­gan­ised a char­ity fes­ti­val to cel­e­brate lo­cal tal­ent and fight can­cer.

The Fer­main Fes­ti­val took place at the Fer­main Youth Cen­tre on Ox­ford Road last Fri­day.

Bands play­ing in­cluded Blank Cheque, That Awk­ward Mo­ment and Dou­glas Fran­cis.

There was also be a bouncy cas­tle, face-paint- ing, jum­ble sale, raf­fle, ice cream van and cake stall.

It was run by a group of 14 young peo­ple on the Na­tional Cit­i­zen Ser­vice (NCS) scheme, which en­cour­ages teens aged 16-18 to fill their summer hol­i­days with ac­tiv­i­ties and com­mu­nity projects.

The £476 raised will go to Macmil­lan Can­cer Sup­port.

Or­gan­iser Robert Davies, 16, of Prim­rose Av­enue, Mac­cles­field said: “It went re­ally well de­spite the weather.”
