●● A FUNDRAISING effort to buy a new vehicle for Buxton Mountain Rescue Team has been successful. A £500 donation enabled the rescue team to order its new transit, all-wheel drive van.
However, buying the van is only half the story. The new vehicle will have to play several roles if the team is to get best use from the investment.
The vehicle will provide mobile incident control room facilities and carry rescue equipment, including a stretcher. The vehicle will also provide members’ welfare facilities for the longer search missions and have to meet ambulance standards for carrying a patient to hospital. Converting the vehicle will cost as much as buying the van so the teams £50,000 appeal is only half way to its target.
