Bolly’s stroll takes them to pole position
ANOTHER comfortable victory for Bollington saw them rise to the summit of the TACS League Division One table for the first time this season.
Visitors Chester County Officers won the toss and elected to bat first on what was another dry pitch at the Recreation Ground.
Right from the start Chester struggled to take the initiative with Mohammed Ali and Julian McGovern bowling their routinely consistent spells.
Wickets weren’t falling through the early overs, but the scoring rate never got going, Stuart Plant only going for nine runs off his seven overs.
As the innings went on Chester tried to up the scoring rate, which enabled Hafiz Imran and Tom Horsfield to take advantage with some skilful bowling.
Imran returned with figures of 4-41 from 12 overs, and Horsfield with figures of 2-25 from seven. Chester finished their innings on 137-6.
In reply, opening batsmen Rick Hough and Tom Barrass were faultless in making light work of the run chase. Barrass scored a brisk 72 not out and skipper Hough added an impressive 58 not out as they marched to a 10-wicket win.
Bollington look to retain top spot at Lindow on Saturday, one of only five fixtures left in the 2014 season.
