Tables are set for the league’s 20th season
IT’S chocks away on Thursday, September 25 for the landmark 20th season of the Macclesfield and District Billiards League.
Last season’s title was won for the second year in a row by the Sunderland Street squad, with the runners-up spot going to the Nomads after the first tie in the league’s history.
Sunderland Street were thwarted in their quest for the double, however, when the tenacious Silktown team beat them comfortably in the knockout cup final.
The Tom Burgess individual knockout competition ended in triumph for John Reeves, who beat Darren Williams in a closely-fought final.
The Player of the Year award went to Mottram St Andrew’s star Mark Holden, in recognition of his significant contribution to the club’s first year in the league.
Any team or individual wishing to take part in the league should contact David Whalley (01625 266625), Geoffrey Yeomans (01663 763012) or Norman Routledge (01625 425783).
