Another double up as Kerridge win at Mere

- GEOFF ALLEN

ANOTHER double for Kerridge saw their strong season continue at Mere.

Winning the toss Kerridge invited the home side to bat and the visitors flew out of the block with Adam Banks (2-34) taking a wicket in the second over and then bowling Roshan for a duck.

Opener Sohaib (26) and keeper Zameer (35) settled down to steady things before a brilliant leg-side catch by keeper Luke Wild off the bowling of Tom Gaskell who then bowled Zameer to close on 2-35.

A cameo knock from Eldo came to an end on 29 when he was bowled by the returning Alex Grimes, who also accounted for Fahad and Kabin to finish with 3-14.

Andy McKeith polished off the innings with 2-13 to see Mere all out for 127, leaving Kerridge a massive 63 overs to gain the points.

Alan Harbige and Matt Roberts began well for the visitors, putting on a solid 52 for the first wicket before Roberts was yorked for 43 by Sohaib.

McKeith then joined in with his maiden 50 for the Clarke Lane outfit, including six sixes, taking the score to 91 before Harbidge departed.

When McKeith left at 111-3 the game was almost won but keeperturned-bowler Zameer came into the attack and caused a few wobbles with 3-7 before Kerridge reached their target with six wickets down to take the points.

Old Parkonians visit Clarke Lane on Saturday for their next match.

All of the remaining games start at 1pm.
