Free-scoring Kerridge can’t close out the win

Macclesfield Express - - MOTORS - GEOFF ALLEN

IT was yet another runfest at Clarke Lane as Kerridge hosted Old Parkonians with 465 runs being scored and only nine wickets falling during the 90 overs.

Before the game a brief silence was observed in memory of Gary Walthall and Terry Kingston who had both recently passed away and who had strong links with the club.

Parks won the toss and inserted the home side who then proceeded to make hay with opener Matt Roberts top-scoring on 88. He was ably assisted by Luke Wild (45), John Grayston (40 not out), Steve Regan (36 not out) with Josh Capper (36) and Alex Grimes (30) who all provided good back-up.

Three bowlers shared the spoils for Parks, taking a brace apiece as Kerridge reached 298-6.

When Parkonians batted after tea and, despite an early wicket for Kerridge, it was the home side’s bowlers who toiled as Orr (50) and Rees, who made a well-struck 84, played out the overs with the extrovert Wild taking off the gloves to bowl six overs for his 1-14, Parks closing on 167-3.

With just three more games before the season closes it is still wide open at the top of Division Three.

This Saturday Kerridge visit Wistaston in the hope of another double.
