A toast to the Sunday League
TO mark the sad demise of the local amateur football leagues, a reunion is to take place next month, at the Pack Horse Social and Bowling Club.
There is to be no Macclesfield and District Sunday Football League this season but former players, match officials, team managers and coaches are all invited for what is sure to be a memoerable evening on Friday, Sep- tember 12.
A spokesman said: “I’m sure this night will be appreciated by many people, a lot of whom won’t have seen team-mates or opponents for a number of years.
“This occasion may never happen again so we’re hoping those who’ve been involved with the league can come along, even if it’s just for an hour.”
Anyone planning to attend who may have photographs from down the years is asked to bring them along too.
It’s hoped that the Saturday and Sunday Cups will be on display.
A buffet will be provided and any donations made on the night will be given to East Cheshire Hospice.
