Hospices join forces to help showcase services on offer
STAFF at East Cheshire Hospice will be joining forces with colleagues from more than 100 other hospices across the UK to raise awareness about the range of care on offer.
As part of Hospice Care Week, starting on Monday, October 6, the hospice will be holding events to showcase its services including an afternoon tea for patients, carers and staff.
Other fundraising activities begin with a Ladies Lunch on Thursday, October 2, a skydive on October 11, and bag packing at Marks and Spencer’s Handforth Dean store on October 11 and 12.
Matron Emma Dixon said: “This year’s theme is ‘hospice care, everywhere’ and we are doing our part to show how widereaching our care can be for people in East Cheshire.
“Hospice care is expert care provided by a diverse team of professional staff and volunteers.
“East Cheshire Hospice plays an important role in supporting and educating staff and volunteers working in other settings beyond hospices, including care homes and hospitals.
“We are delighted to support this national awareness-raising drive.
“We will be encouraging our supporters to share their stories and memories of hospice care, especially through social media #HospiceCareWeek, to help spread the word about hospice care.
“We hope people will realise that hospice care is more diverse than they might first think and will become more aware of the support East Cheshire Hospice provides to patients, families and carers.”
Antonia Bunnin, director of hospice support and development at national hospice care charity Help the Hospices, added: “Hospice care is delivered by diverse teams of people who share a strong culture of compassionate care which focuses on the dignity and wellbeing of each individual, wherever they are cared for.”
