Group boosts community spirit

A NEW group to encourage children put something back into the community has been launched.

Rotakids has been established by Macclesfield Castle Rotary club at Ash Grove Academy on Belgrave Road.

It is a junior section of Rotary International and will give children aged seven to 12 opportunities to work together and undertake activities in their community.

Alec Johnston of the Macclesfield Castle Rotary club said: “Although in its early stages, the young people participated in the Barnaby Parade in the summer and also raised money by setting up and running their own stalls at the school fete.

“Rotakids provides the opportunity for children to have fun and enjoyment whilst working on worthwhile projects.

“Rotakids will also learn about the importance of citizenship and respecting others, as well as themselves.”
