Priory Park youngsters excel at festival
A GLORIOUS day at Stockport festival saw Macclesfield’s U11s (right) field two teams, the Sharks and the Tigers.
While the Tigers performed brilliantly to finish as runners-up in the Shield, the Sharks brought back the cup as festival winners.
The tournament was split into two groups and the Sharks won their group and then the semi-final against Vale of Lune. In the final they saw off Wilmslow to emerge as champions.
The Tigers came third and progressed to the shield final, but had to settle for second spot.
The club’s U9s were joint-winners in their first festival outing, sharing the success with Lymm.
After a draw and two empahtic wins in the groups, they qualified for a semi-final against Sandbach. Though that ended in a 4-4 draw the junior Blues qualified for the final as they’d scored the first try.
Against Lymm a hard-fought clash ended without any score and as they couldn’t be separated they shared the prize.
