VIC BARLOW TAKES AN ALTERNATIVE LOOK AT LIFE IN MACCLESFIELD May your God be with you through this difficult time

Macclesfield Express - - BARLOW’S BRIEF -

FOR two local families this has been a very traumatic period and I thought it best to allow some time before expressing my condolences.

I had no wish to intrude upon their privacy at such a sensitive time.

Brian Ollier was a unique talent who dedicated his life to photographing Macclesfield and its residents. He will leave a huge gap in the recording of our local history.

Brian had real passion for his work and his was the first page I turned to each Wednesday when I collected my Express.

Those old black and white images, crafted with love, always intrigued me.

His family will miss him dearly, I’ll miss him as will the entire town.

Let us give thanks for his talent and his work that will live on way beyond our lifetime.

I did not know Robert Hart, whose life came to such a tragic end at a music festival in June.

I do, however, know his parents very well and cannot imagine their pain at his loss.

We were neighbours for many years and shared some very good times.

I pray their joy in Robert’s life will eventually heal their broken hearts.

To both families I send my most sincere condolences.

May your God be with you through this most difficult time.
