Flower club shaken and stirred by Bondthemed showcase
PRESTBURY Flower Club enjoyed a demonstration all about author Ian Fleming’s most famous creation – fictional spy James Bond.
The showcase, which was put on by demonstrator and president of Shrewsbury Flower Club, Nigel Whyles, was entitled ‘007: Shaken Not Stirred’.
During the meeting, and while dressed impeccably in suit, waistcoat and bow tie, Nigel showed off various floral arrangements all based on some of the most iconic 23 bond films.
As a special accompaniment to his floral cinematic homage, he also added Shirley Bassey’s iconic theme tunes as he illustrated displays based around the films Goldfinger, Moonraker and Diamonds Are Forever.
The award-winning florist also helped judge one of the club’s competitions - ‘ Bonfire Night’ – which asked members and visitors to have a go at creating a bonfire-themed display themselves.
Lesley Stafford, the group’s programme secretary, said: “After Nigel picked out the display he thought best exemplified what the night is all about, the eventual winner Angela Hiscott then received her trophy from club President Lucienne Nicoll.”
The club meets on the first Wednesday of every month at Prestbury Village Hall, starting at 1.45pm.
The next meeting, a presentation on ‘ Traveller’s Tales’ by Denise Hubbard, will cost £5 to attend and guests are welcome.
