Massey cap­tures course record in style

MAC­CLES­FIELD Golf Club’s Chris Massey set a new course record when play­ing in the ‘ma­jor’ TW Etchells Trophy.

The four-hand­i­cap­per posted a 66 gross, nett 62, and fin­ished off the record round in style with a hole in one of the par three 18th.

Tim also won di­vi­sion one fin­ish­ing three shots clear of Paul Tom­lin­son and in di­vi­sion two cap­tain Al­lan Stevens was the main man with 68, one less than Bill De­lahunty and John Harding.

Chris is pic­tured on the 18th ready to cel­e­brate his record and ace.

More ‘ma­jor’ ac­tion at Macc saw Michael Rose win the Ho­vis Cup with a swing­ing 61 see­ing him home from Robert McKeith 63 and Pete Wil­liams 66 with Paul Clowes hav­ing the best gross of 73.

Macc ladies were in Sta­ble­ford ac­tion and in a tight fin­ish June Sum­ner won a cpo on 36 points from Ge­orgina Whalley and Sue Gib­son was hot on their heels with 35.

It’s very tight in the ag­gre­gate bat­tle for the Kor­dian Cup with Ge­orgina Whalley lead­ing with 161 points from Ju­lia Dunne 159 and Jill Hig­gins 153.

A Win­ter Pairs qual­i­fier at Shrigley Hall was won by Lee Fisher and P O’Rourke with 45 points, two more than Mike Pow­ell and Richard Park and John Wilkin­son and Ian Wadsworth.

A Mid­week Sta­ble­ford at Mot­tram Hall had Sam Lynch first past the post with 38 points from Adrian Wal­lace 37.

David Massey was top man at Styal in a Sun­day Sta­ble­ford with 40 points from Owen Trainor 39.

In a Wed­nes­day Sta­ble­ford at Styal Ken Mayoh was a clear win­ner with 38 points, three more than Si­mon Tracey, Max Penney, Mark Bow­den and Has­san Ja­fari.

A ladies Sun­day Sta­ble­ford at Styal was won by Lisa Ben­net­tThorn­ton with 38 points, three more than Char­lotte Leathem.

A sin­gles Sta­ble­ford for Daven­port ladies had the di­vi­sional hot­shots as Pat Im­pey 38 points, Pa­tri­cia Massey 38 and Pauline Weller­man 35.
