Massey captures course record in style
MACCLESFIELD Golf Club’s Chris Massey set a new course record when playing in the ‘major’ TW Etchells Trophy.
The four-handicapper posted a 66 gross, nett 62, and finished off the record round in style with a hole in one of the par three 18th.
Tim also won division one finishing three shots clear of Paul Tomlinson and in division two captain Allan Stevens was the main man with 68, one less than Bill Delahunty and John Harding.

More ‘major’ action at Macc saw Michael Rose win the Hovis Cup with a swinging 61 seeing him home from Robert McKeith 63 and Pete Williams 66 with Paul Clowes having the best gross of 73.
Macc ladies were in Stableford action and in a tight finish June Sumner won a cpo on 36 points from Georgina Whalley and Sue Gibson was hot on their heels with 35.
It’s very tight in the aggregate battle for the Kordian Cup with Georgina Whalley leading with 161 points from Julia Dunne 159 and Jill Higgins 153.
A Winter Pairs qualifier at Shrigley Hall was won by Lee Fisher and P O’Rourke with 45 points, two more than Mike Powell and Richard Park and John Wilkinson and Ian Wadsworth.
A Midweek Stableford at Mottram Hall had Sam Lynch first past the post with 38 points from Adrian Wallace 37.
David Massey was top man at Styal in a Sunday Stableford with 40 points from Owen Trainor 39.
In a Wednesday Stableford at Styal Ken Mayoh was a clear winner with 38 points, three more than Simon Tracey, Max Penney, Mark Bowden and Hassan Jafari.
A ladies Sunday Stableford at Styal was won by Lisa BennettThornton with 38 points, three more than Charlotte Leathem.
A singles Stableford for Davenport ladies had the divisional hotshots as Pat Impey 38 points, Patricia Massey 38 and Pauline Wellerman 35.
