Byron title hopes are back on right track

LORD BYRON got back to winning ways last Wednesday with a 6-1 win at Railway View. Their title aspirations had been dealt a blow after a narrow 4-3 loss against Nags ‘A’.
With the score locked at 3-3, the Nags snatched victory through Lee Banks and Steve Holland.
But Byron’s win over Railway sees them five points behind Queens with six games left to play.
An emphatic 7-0 victory at Bruce ‘A’ saw Queens ‘A’ maintain their momentum at the top, with Glen Valentine, Andy Jackson, Kirk Ten-Pierick, Bryan Jones, Mark Billing, Mark Turner proving strong in the singles, before Simon Goda and Neil Podmore completed the rout in the doubles.
Spinners occupy third spot after a 6-1 home win against Railway View. The hosts fired themselves into a 4-0 lead, before Paul Barnet grabbed one back for Railway. But Spinners continued their clinical edge in the doubles through Mick Hatton and Matt Barton.
Queens B defeated Sporting B 5-2 and with a tight, early contest poised at 2-2, Andy McKeith and Craig Lyons fired Queens into a 4-2 lead , before McKeith and Rob Lockett kept a clean performance in the doubles.
Elsewhere, Flowerpot recorded a convincing 6-1 victory at Nags ‘B’. Bruce B earned a hard-fought 4-3 victory at British Flag, while Broken X defeated Sporting ‘A’ 5-2 at home.
