WOMAN,, 61, FACES JAIL OVER OAP ROAD DEATH
A WOMAN is facing prison after being found guilty of causing the death of a pensioner by dangerous driving.
Susan Raybould, 61, was driving her Ford Ka along Hurdsfield Road in Macclesfield when she collided with Pamela Jayasundera, Chester Crown Court heard.
Ms Jayasundera had been crossing the road using two walking sticks. She suffered severe injuries including a broken leg and fractured skull and later died. Raybould admitted causing death by careless driving but was found guilty of the more serious charge of causing death by dangerous driving following a trial.
Matthew Dunford, prosecuting, told the court that Raybould’s driving ‘fell far below what would have been expected of a careful driver’. One witness claimed Raybould’s eyes were not on the road at the time of the accident. ●● FULL story on page 5
