Singers raise the roof at church

Macclesfield Express - - MOTORING -

MORE than 100 singers helped raise £1,300 for a church.

The vocalists came together for a Come and Sing event at St Michael’s Church in Market Place, pictured.

The performance of Mozart’s Requiem was directed by Ian Chesworth, well-known for his appearances on Gareth Malone’s The Choir on BBC2.

It was organised by King Edward Musical Society of Macclesfield (KEMS).

It’s choir was joined by visiting singers from Shrewsbury and Lancashire.

The singers were accompanied by KEMS and you and Ian and the church folk and setting made for a welcoming environment.”

Meanwhile Mike Muston from Bollington said: “I thought the event was terrific and thoroughly enjoyed the day. Mozart’s Requiem is a piece that many people already knew and I think this really contributed to the success of the day.”
