A SQUAD from Tytherington went ‘down under’ to help find a sponsor for some new kit.

The Tytherington Junior Football Club under 10s team has managed to acquire a financial boost from a firm based more than 10,000 miles away in Australia.

Redback Settlement Services, which helps find accommodation for refugees in Australia, agreed to sponsor the team after learning about their struggle to find a sponsor.

Steven Kennedy, the owner of Redback Settlement Services, offered to sponsor the team after the team’s coach - his cousin Michael Kennedy - explained the predicament.

Michael said: “We tried to find a local company to sponsor us so we could purchase much needed warm jackets for the boys for the upcoming winter months but were unsuccessful.

“During a phone conversation with my cousin Steven Kennedy in Australia, he agreed to fund us which was great news.

“The team now has a real international feel and the boys are all thrilled.

“The under 10s team have made a very good start to the season and we are always looking for more sponsors to allow us to develop.”
